Yesenia* is 28 years old and was born in El Paso, Texas, but her parents are from Mexico. She is married with two children. For the past six years, she has worked full time as an office manager for a plumbing company. Yesenia loves her job but dreams of becoming a nurse. She has been receiving assistance from our Legal Empowerment and Assistance Program (LEAP) and is currently enrolled in school pursuing a nursing degree. ALICE LEAP, funded by the Community Foundation of Broward, is a holistic program that takes the extra step in healing the community. ALICE LEAP provides participants with personalized support, friendship, and guidance throughout their academic careers.
Thanks to ALICE LEAP and her family and grandfather’s support, Yesenia feels that she can achieve anything she sets her mind to. She is working hard to achieve her dreams and to provide a better future for herself and for her family.
The ALICE LEAP program is crucial to the Broward community. Thanks to the generosity of Community Foundation of Broward, Legal Aid is able to provide our participants with more than just legal empowerment and assistance but rather a network of dedicated people that provide individual support every step of the way.
