Pro Bono Attorney Spotlight: Kristine M. Johnson, Esq.

Kristine M. Johnson, Esq.  has been taking pro bono cases from Legal Aid to assist low-income residents of Broward County for over twenty years. During that time, she has consistently accepted new pro bono cases almost every year, demonstrating her generosity and willingness to serve the community. She has handled twenty-five pro bono cases, helping low-income clients including survivors of domestic violence, military veterans, and abused and neglected children in the dependency system. She has volunteered her time with the Tracey McPharlin Dependency Project, Mission United Veteran’s Pro Bono Project and the Broward Lawyers Care Advice and Counsel Hotline. Johnson’s work has enabled survivors of domestic violence to obtain divorces and restraining orders in order to flee abusive relationships and establish independence from their abusers.

Ms. Johnson is originally from Mishawaka, Indiana.  She moved to Florida to attend St. Thomas University School of Law and opened her law practice after graduating in 1997.  The majority of Kristine’s practice is in Marital and Family Law; however, she also practices in the area of real estate litigation and transactions, has been a FUND member attorney since 1998, and is a licensed Florida Real Estate Broker.  She is a past president and is on the Board of Directors of the South Broward Bar Association.  When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and horses.
