Profile in Good: Miguel Cardona
Miguel Cardona is a Qualified Tax Expert with Legal Aid Service of Broward County’s Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic. The Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic provides free legal assistance in tax-related areas to eligible residents of Broward County who are low-income taxpayers.
Miguel graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Puerto Rico. Miguel acquired years of experience in the U.S. tax system before receiving his Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law.
While in law school, he engaged in the Restorative Justice Project and volunteered in different Restorative Justice initiatives that used holistic practices in conflict resolution. During this time, Miguel also volunteered as Assistant Corporation Counsel with the City of Chicago Department of Law and with the Cook County Law Office of the Public Defender. He has also represented non-citizens in removal proceedings before the Chicago Immigration Court.
Miguel holds a law license from the State of Illinois and is admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court.
