MISSION UNITED Veterans Pro Bono Legal Project

In partnership with the United Way of Broward County’s Mission United, we have created the Veterans Pro Bono Legal Project. This legal project was created to provide access to civil justice for military veterans. Our service connects veterans with pro bono attorneys who practice law in their specific area of need. All legal services provided to veterans are 100% free. We believe that it is important to serve those who have served our country. By investing in our veterans, we are standing behind our country’s bravest men and women and are there to offer a hand-up when needed.

In order to provide legal services to veterans, we need volunteer attorneys. Offering your pro bono legal assistance to our veterans is the best way to say “thank you for your service.”

Typically cases will include issues related to

  • Family Law
  • Consumer Issues
  • Housing Issues
  • VA  Benefits
  • Other Benefits
  • Probate / Wills / Estate Planning / Advance Directives
  • Real Estate and Business Transactional Matters
  • Employment Law
  • Litigation
  • Alternative Dispute Resolution

If your area of expertise was not mentioned, you are still welcome to take on a pro bono case or make a financial donation.

Pro bono work is very rewarding but can also be challenging. To cope with challenges, we try to ensure that the process runs as smoothly as possible. We strive to make a quality match between the needs of the veteran client and the skill set of the pro bono attorney.

Additionally, we provide $1 million of malpractice insurance and will cover pre-approved court & litigation costs.

If needed, we have a library of reference manuals and forms for applicable practice areas as well as answers to frequently asked questions in the focused area of your case. We can provide a mentor to help you navigate a specific are of law.

We offer free Continuing Legal Education (CLE’s) for new & seasoned lawyers, including free VA Accreditation training.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering to help our veterans.
