Pro Bono Attorney Spotlight: Jason Slatkin

Pro Bono Attorney Spotlight: Jason Slatkin

This month, we shine a spotlight on Jason Slatkin, an extraordinary attorney from Lorium Law in Ft. Lauderdale who has dedicated his time and expertise to over 34 pro bono cases for Broward Lawyers Care (BLC). Throughout the years, Jason has assisted individuals in critical need of help with landlord/tenant issues, mortgage foreclosures, divorce cases, and bankruptcies through BLC, the recognized pro bono program within Legal Aid Programs in Broward County. BLC enables busy attorneys like Jason to make a meaningful difference in their community through pro bono work.

Born in Monticello, New York, Jason has spent most of his life in Florida, attending Ramblewood Middle School and J.P. Taravella High School in Coral Springs. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Economics from Indiana University in 1990 before attending the University of Florida College of Law, where he graduated with honors in 1994. Since then, Jason has focused his law practice primarily on insolvency, including out-of-court workouts, bankruptcy, receiverships, assignments for the benefit of creditors, and other related commercial litigation. He has also served as treasurer of the Broward Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, on the Board of Directors of the Broward County Bar Association, and as chair of the Intercoastal Division of Children’s Home Society.

Jason is admitted to practice before all of Florida’s state courts, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern, Middle and Norther Districts of Florida, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

When he’s not practicing law, Jason enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, and their pets, and enjoys fishing, cycling, and music.
