As lawyers, each of us has earned the unique privilege and is given the unique opportunity to stand with those people and provide them with the ability to meaningfully participate in our justice system. Every time we do, we help to change their lives, the lives of their families, and our own lives in positive, special, and often unforeseen ways. And by doing so we are reminded that there is no greater calling than helping those among us who are most in need. – Douglass Reynolds, Esq.
The Russell E. Carlisle Advocacy Award is presented annually to an advocate whose actions exemplify a personal and professional commitment to making justice available to the poor and disadvantaged. Douglas Reynolds, Esq. is a Director at Tripp Scott, PA and Board Certified by the Florida Bar in both Business Litigation and Marital and Family Law. Assisting local legal aids for over 30 years, he represents pro bono clients in various forms of litigation, including business disputes, civil rights, family law, guardianships, housing and personal injury claims. Dedicated to helping the most vulnerable members of our community gain access to our legal system, Doug believes there is no greater calling than helping those most in need. He further explains, “Each day, the most vulnerable members of our community confront serious legal challenges alone and without the skills or resources necessary to navigate our complex legal system. Often, everything they have may be at stake: for some, that may be the loss of their housing; for others, that may be the loss of the government benefits they depend on; and for others, that may be the loss of their children. In these cases, as in all cases, there can be no equality of justice where there is no equality of legal resources.”
