Annabella Barboza, Esq. is a shareholder of Barboza Law & Associates, a boutique law firm dedicated to serving clients in the areas of real estate, probate, estate planning and business law. She is one of a select number of Florida attorneys who are Board Certified in Real Estate Law.
In addition to her practice, Ms. Barboza is devoted to giving back to the legal profession and her community. She is actively involved with several local bar associations and public service organizations, and tirelessly dedicates her time and legal skills to represent pro bono clients. She strongly believes, “For the legal system to work, it must work for all. An attorney’s professional responsibility extends beyond the ethical standards and rules, and it must have at the core, a spirit of public service.”
Barboza has volunteered as a pro bono attorney for Legal Aid’s pro bono project, Broward Lawyers Care for many years. She also volunteers with our MISSION UNITED Veterans Pro Bono Project (VPBP). Barboza launched our first Veteran-focused estate-planning clinic and has continued to assist in planning quarterly clinics held at the VA, Vet Center, and MISSON UNITED. To date, these clinics have provided free estate planning advice and document preparation to over 50 Veterans in Broward County.
Now the Co-Chair of the RPPTL Membership Committee, Barboza played a leadership role at the state level for creation of the NO PLACE LIKE HOME program she launched locally through Broward Lawyers Care in 2018. The project asks volunteer attorneys to represent low-income families in clearing titles to their real property or mobile homes. Many of the NO PLACE LIKE HOME clients are senior citizens, living on fixed incomes. When they have a clear title to their property, they are eligible for a homestead exemption and many other credits on their property tax bill. This makes a huge difference to everyone, but especially our senior community. Clear title also is key in the event of a disaster and to prevent foreclosure.
Barboza is a member of the Executive Council of the Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar, serves as Treasurer of the Broward Attorneys Real Estate Council, and is a member of the FUND’s 17th Judicial Circuit Advisory Team. She was a fellow of the Inaugural Class of The Florida Bar Leadership Academy and earned a juris doctor degree from Nova Southeastern University, College of Law.
Annabella Barboza is a true champion for our mission, helping to guide our programs through her involvement on the LAS/CCLA Board of Directors.
