University of Miami law student Aaron Graubert selected as the 2019 Fellow
The B’nai B’rith Justice Unit #5207 is pleased to announce that Aaron Graubert was selected as their 2019 Maurice Berkowitz Summer Fellow. Graubert spent a six-week fellowship with the Legal Aid Providers in Broward County, Legal Aid Service of Broward County (LAS) and Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida (LAS).
Graubert is a rising third year law student at the University of Miami School of Law and plans to pursue a career in public interest law. As a Fellow, Graubert has had the opportunity to work directly with Legal Aid clients and attorneys, working primarily on immigration issues. He is proud of the work he did to help secure expedited citizenship rights to the immigrant survivors, and their families, of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in February 2018.
B’nai B’rith Justice Unit immediate past-president Louis Reinstein, Esq. said, “The B’nai B’rith Justice Unit is thrilled that we were able to partner with Legal Aid to provide the funds for a summer fellow. This was very special because the recipient this year, Aaron Graubert, has deep roots in B’nai B’rith. We established the fellowship to honor the legacy of one of the founders of our Unit, Maurice Berkowitz. By teaming up with Legal Aid, we were able to honor a great member of our Unit and help further the work of legal aid in our community. We call this Tikkun Olam, part of our effort to “repair the world.” We look forward to seeing the great work Aaron will do in our community and we were glad we could play a part in his education.”
