Samuel S. Goren, Esq. to Receive Commitment to Justice Award Presented by Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida

Samuel S. Goren, Esq. to Receive Commitment to Justice Award
Presented by Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (July 14, 2015) – Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida (CCLA) announces they will present local attorney and advocate Samuel S. Goren, Esq.,  with the fifth annual Commitment to Justice Award. The award will be presented at the 14th Annual For the Public Good event on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six in Fort Lauderdale.

The Commitment to Justice Award was established by CCLA in 2011 to celebrate and commemorate their first year of participating in For the Public Good. This award honors members of the community whose work improves the lives of low-income seniors, veterans or families through advocacy, education, representation and empowerment.
An attorney for local governments and municipalities, Samuel Goren also serves as pro bono legal counsel for several not-for-profit organizations in Broward County, including the Areawide Council on Aging of Broward County and the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC). His commitment to community service and his dedication to these organizations helps many of CCLA’s senior clients, families and others receiving social services in our community. Because of his long-standing involvement with senior groups, he has a compassionate understanding of the issues impacting the more than 394,000 year-round senior residents of Broward County.
Past recipients of the Commitment to Justice Award include:  Elizabeth G. Daugherty, Esq.–2011; The Honorable Ronald J. Rothschild–2012; Lisa Goldberg, Esq.–2013; and Edith Schaffer Lederberg – 2014.
The annual fundraiser will celebrate the magic of pro bono giving and honor members of the community who have gone above and beyond in their efforts to secure justice and change lives for the underprivileged and underserved in Broward County. An estimated 450 Broward County lawyers, judges and community leaders are expected to be in attendance, for what is widely-noted throughout Broward as the premier pro-bono recognition event of the year.
Proceeds from the event benefit children and families served by LAS and CCLA and enable both organizations to serve greater numbers of those in need.  A few of the many legal services provided include helping veterans gain much needed benefits, abused children in foster care, the homeless, children in need of special education, victims of domestic violence and families losing their homes to foreclosure.
