LEGAL AID SERVICE OF BROWARD COUNTY RECEIVES GRANT FOR PANDEMIC-RELATED LEGAL SERVICES

Legal Aid Service of Broward County has received a grant from Broward County, utilizing CARES Act funds, to support providing legal services to Broward County residents who are facing pandemic-related legal issues. The key focus of the grant will be housing-related, such as impending evictions, but will also include consumer, veteran, special education, and tax matters.
Legal services under this grant became available on September 1, and are expected to run through November 30, 2020.

“We are anticipating a high volume of calls to our office by individuals and families suffering from the impact of this pandemic,” said Anthony J. Karrat, Executive Director of Legal Aid Service of Broward County. “We are pleased to partner with Broward County which has provided us with the resources to make it possible to help so many in our community who are suffering and in need.”

The public is encouraged to call Legal Aid to determine their eligibility to receive assistance. Attorneys and staff are available to help with all legal needs by phone at 954-765-8950.
For assistance with evictions specifically, the community should call 954-736-2497 or email evictions@legalaid.org. Additional information about evictions and tenants’ rights is available at BrowardLegalAid.org/eviction-assistance.
