PLANTATION, FL (November 13, 2018) – Jacquelyn and Bruce Rogow, both former Legal Aid Lawyers, are seeking to encourage others to champion pro bono legal services in our community. In that spirit they have made a $50,000 commitment to Legal Aid organizations in Broward County.
Their gift of $50,000 over five years is intended to inspire members of our community to also make five year commitments – from $1,000 to $10,000 or more – to provide continuing support for legal aid programs which are essential to equal justice for all.
The Sustainability Challenge was announced during the 17th Annual For the Public Good event on October 25. To date six area firms and corporations have embraced the challenge at $10,000/year for 5 years including Birnbaum Lippman & Gregoire, Gunster, JM Family Enterpises Inc., Kelley Uustal, Shutts & Bowen LLP, and Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman, P.L. Coming in with commitments at $5,000/year for 5 years are Florida Power and Light and Kim Vaughan Lerner LLP.
The Rogows are longtime supporters of legal aid programs and organizations. Jacquelyn was an attorney with Legal Aid Service of Broward County from 1978-1980 and Bruce, a civil rights lawyer in Mississippi in the 1960s, was Assistant Director of the Miami Legal Services Program, and served as Board Chairman for Legal Aid Service of Broward County in 1983.
