Profile in Good: LAS Attorney Jaime D’Alessandro

Jaime is the Supervising Attorney of the Education Legal Rights Project at Legal Aid. Jaime fervently defends the right to education for children in our community by providing legal representation to students with needs that are not being met in the school system. She is dedicated to ensuring that all children with special needs receive an appropriate education in accordance with federal and state law. Jaime’s advocacy has resulted in students receiving timely testing and eligibility determinations, proper school placements, effective services, favorable manifestation determination reviews, and due process resolutions. Her representation of foster care children in Dependency Court as the Attorney ad Litem for education purposes has resulted in the educational stability of many foster care children.

Jaime is a volunteer for YREADS, a program designed to help struggling students learn to read at grade level. She is a member of the Public Interest Law Section and Young Lawyers Section of the Florida Bar, as well as the Broward County Bar Association. She received her J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law, and her B.A. from the University of Florida.
