Pro Bono Attorney Spotlight: Kevin Rajabalee

Kevin Rajabalee, Esq. has a long relationship with the legal aid organizations in Broward. His support goes all the way back to his tenure as an employee at Legal Aid. After earning a JD from St. Thomas University School of Law in 2013, he began working at Legal Aid as an intern with the Housing Rights Project. He subsequently worked with three different internal legal teams as a paralegal. According to Kevin, “Legal Aid stood by me while I waited for two years to be admitted to the Bar.” Once admitted, he began working with the Consumer Rights Project as an attorney, and said, “I love my role as a consumer law attorney, and I know that this position will serve as the foundation I need to be successful as an attorney.”

In 2017 Kevin furthered his dream and branched out to open his own firm, KR Legal. There he files state and federal actions against debt collection companies, landlords, credit reporting agencies, and other corporations for violations of relevant consumer laws. He also provides legal defense to consumers facing foreclosure, debt collection, and wage garnishments. Kevin believes that everyone should have access to justice and wants to protect his clients from unlawful activities.

Since leaving Legal Aid, Kevin has taken seven pro bono cases; six of them were from the Mission United Veterans Pro Bono Project. He also is a member of the Veterans Consumer Law Taskforce, which is a group of consumer law attorneys who have dedicated their time to take pro bono cases for Veterans.
